Elephant Adventures. Adventures with Elephants is an educational elephant interaction facility and venue located on a 300 hectare wildlife reserve in the Waterberg district, Limpopo province. Adventures with Elephants provide unique hands-on elephant interactions, elephant-back rides, swims on the elephants and starlight safaris. Also tailor-made activities such as weddings, team building, corporate functions and filming.
Adventures With Elephants is located on a wildlife reserve, adjacent to Zebula Country Club. It is an hour’s drive north from Pretoria, and managed by the Hensman family. They invite you into the elephant’s world where you can learn more about the intelligence and compassionate nature of elephants. Experienced and qualified handlers will share their in-depth knowledge and passion for the elephants with the guests. This is an extraordinary experience!
Adventures with Elephants – General Activities:
Interactions: Educational Hands on Interaction
Safaris/ Rides: Gracefully and silently traverse through the African veld atop an elephant in search of wildlife.
Swim on Elephants: Enjoy the experience as the elephant duck and dive in the water underneath you or as they mill around splashing each other.
Adventures with Elephants – Tailor Made Activities:
Film & Photography: tamed and trained elephants at hand to create desired outcomes for film or photography,
Bush Walks: our early morning bush walk activity is a great way to start your day.
Corporate Events: a truly unique experience for any group, we can tailor a solution for you.
Weddings and Engagements: The elephants make their day special by offering great symbolism to the occasion
What you need for your Elephant Adventures:
Camera, hat, sunscreen, appropriate footwear, cash for drinks, snacks and curios.
Warm clothes for winter and Starlight safaris, torch.
Swimming activities require a swimming costume and old clothes to cover-up during the swimming and a change of clothes for after the swim.
For your comfort it is advised to wear long trousers and closed shoes when riding and swimming.
Level of Fitness and Ability for Elepehant Adventures:
We welcome all people of all fitness levels and people with disabilities.
Some activities are age limited.
Please be aware of the following: a decent sense of balance and upper body strength is a requirement on Safari and when Swimming with the Elephants. Overweight persons who cannot hold their own bodyweight should consider this when partaking in an Elephant Safari and Swim.
Although almost anyone can interact with the elephant, those with disabilities will be limited in the types of activities they can choose to do.
Mention your concerns to the receptionists when making your booking, or to the AWE staff before you partake in an activity.
